hello guys. Doing a small ensuite floor tomorrow just under 3sqm. Went and had a look at it and the floor is spotless as it only had laminate on it before and very solid, but the chip board has a coat of something on it which is clear and has a very smooth finish.
I'm presuming its some kind of...
'Afternoon Gents.
Am back after receiving and implementing some excellent advice on my first visit here.
Our patio needs sorting out at some point, raising and levelling. If I was to get the silly idea of tiling it afterwards, could you give me a steer on the correct "only doing this once"...
Quick question guys re 6mm hardie board going over 18 mm ply. I've been to 3 different topps tiles to get the 25mm hardie screws but they only have the 32mm which are too long. (Pipes etc). Can you use 20 or 25 mm turbo gold screws. I'm sure I saw something on here where some tilers do. Thanks
Got a wet room to tile inside the shower area and I'm unsure which substrate to use either Hardie backer board or moisture resistant plasterboard, two walls r brickwork one wall is studded
Bit of a quick straw poll here.
I still Polybond new plaster with watered down pva before tiling. Always have, always will. Who else does? Having an argument with a smart arse builder "who's been tiling for years" who says its not needed.
Your thoughts please.
Cheers :beermug:
got a 30m floor to level, only ever done small floors, used a flat trowel.
Ordered a spike roller from Ctd and the pole.
Is this the best way to go,pour out and roll it out or am I better to get a large level and drag over surface.
It's the old adhesive still on floor as customer saying its a...
Hi I have had my cellar converted and a new concrete sub floor put in on which kingspan and water resistant chip board has been layed on top of. I have always thought tiling straight onto chipboard was a no-no so my question is what is the best thing to do prior to installing floor tiles? I...

so i went to look at a conservatory floor wich had been completed 5 weeks ago, run of the mill unit i noticed a 3 inch gap by the back door, about 10 inches deep and had a power cable hanging loose in there, the builders said this is normal, my question is should it be the builders who fill the...
Hi guys I was hoping to get some advice on prepping my mum's bathroom for tiling. The floor is floorboards covered in vinyl tile but as there is going to be moving of pipework most of this had to come up so was going to replace it with 18mm wbp ply primed underneath and edges. Although only...
People have so many different ways of doing things now, it becomes very confusing on what is actually the best way!!. So i thought id see what different ways you would all deal with the following situation.
So . . . . you rip out all the tiles in a customers bathroom, the existing...
I've got a shop front to tile in April, under the windows and up the sides, about 8m.
Can anyone suggest what might be the best thing to board it with so I can inform the shop owner to make sure it's done right prior to me going to tile it. I was thinking 12mm nmp?
Hi everyone,
In need of some professional opinions on this one, I'm pricing up fixing some 1200 x 800 decorative concrete panels inside a living room.....13 metres in total/2 walls......the problem is the panels weigh in at 30kg per metre with adhesive and the walls are plastered!.....British...

I'm pricing a job atm where the customer would like the floor tiling from the kitchen straight into the bathroom.
The house was derelict for a long time and the floor is a mess.
My big concern is the serveral slabs etc, the floor height can be built up in SLC and bulked out with sharp sand in...

can I just get a general consensus/hands up on here please:
Does everyone fix hardibacker down with adhesive as well as screws, or does anyone just use screws?
I've always used the adhesive as per manufacturers instructions but speaking to a few traders at the local topps tiles recently, all...
Unusual post but thought I'd share. About 15 years ago before I was tiling for a living I did a small conservatory floor for myself. I bought some tubbed junk from a well known green DIY store :) and the tiles too, not entirely sure the screed was even fully dry, I'm not even sure I primed the...
Hi Folks , been a while since any posts been very busy ! What's the best sealer for sealing crackled glaze kitchen tiles 6 "x 4 ", I'll be using white grout ! Thanks
Hi all,
I do a lot of my work for a bathroom fitting company and the fitters constantly discuss the best method for dealing with wooden floors. I was brought up on 9mm WBP screwed every 100mm and primed, but I am now leaning towards anti crack matting. Others use Kudos Aqua4ma or Hardibacker...
Hi all,
I'm tiling a new bathroom but am unsure about wall preparation. I've spent a long time removing the old tiles and adhesive using an sds drill, but there are bits of what seems like concrete that doesn't come off without really hard work.
Can I just tile on this wall or can I fill to...
