Ditra mat for 10mm porcelain on new 65mm fibre screed?

Hi all, apologies if this has been asked before, but couldn't find an example for this situation. Question is do I need to decouple with Ditra mat (or similar) or will it be fine without? Tiles are 10mm thick porcelain. This is in a new extension linking to existing kitchen. The new...

Is there a visual difference between the different types of screed

My new laid screed floor has been down for 4 months and from reading up I probably need to seal it prior to tiling. Unfortunately I cannot get hold of the builder to find out whether it was a cement screed or flow/anhydrite type screed. Is there a visual way to tell (ie color/finish) that would...

Started today, 900x600 limestone job. Customer wants 8mm ish joints so that makes it a bit easier on the eye with the chiseled/tumbled edges. They are undecided on which grout colour, I was leaning towards a grey for these, would like some opinions please. Start laying tomorrow on top of the...

4 Year Old Gyvlon (anhydrite) preparation advice

We had Lafarge gyvlon screed laid 4 years ago and are only now in a position to get it tiled. Up to now it was covered with temporary carpet. As far as I can remember nothing has been done in prep (I know we should have removed the laitance a couple weeks after laying, but to be fair it looked...

    Which UFH Screed (Thin)

All Please could you advise which is the best thin screed to go with for UFH? I know it will be a liquid of some sorts and I presume 40mm is minimum I can get away with? I will be tiling on top. Im trying to maximise the amount of insulation I can get underneath a Block and Beam floor with...

    Devi mat and renovation screed.

Hi, I have had an electrician fit cement board and a Devi underfloor heating mat (150) and the floor was way out on one side so I have put some renovation screed over about half of it, i'd say its around 30mm at its thickest, how will this effect heat? As in, heat up times, cool down times...

    Cemfloor liquid screed with heating

I thought I would put this on as these screeds are becoming increasingly popular and there seems to be incorrect advice been given by the screeders. Pumped in, rapid drying cement based screed with underfloor heating which they claim you can tile on directly after 7 days and you don’t need to...

Cracks in screed, how to repair?

Hi I’ve just removed a stone floor for a client. I didn’t tile it originally. The stone tiles had 3 sizeable cracks in it and the floor has a wet ufh system. We couldn’t work out why the tiles had cracked apart from guessing that it was due to cracks in the screed below and not using a...

Existing floating floor and new ufh screed dilemma

A new ufh screed is going to be laid in an extension. The existing flooring is a floating floor with plenty of 'bounce'. Customer would like both floors tiled. Old floor is approx 70m2 and the new screed is approx 30m2. Is it possible to do this as I don't think cost is an issue? Lewie
