Good morning, Gents
I'd really appreciate the advice of experienced members here. I've been doing a small barn conversion in Kent for myself for the past 7 years and it's still nowhere near complete. I think I probably have OCD and this is only getting worse.
The footprint of the building is...

Hi Everyone, We have come across some Red/Black Quarry tiles in our hall way that have over the years had concrete screed over the top, we have been to try and scrape back but its taken a day to just scrape back a few, has anyone got any tips to aid this process, and once the screed is removed...
Should have walked into a job that was left"perfect" by the customers builder on Monday but its gone to pot.
Long story short its been down for 6 weeks but the Laitance had not been removed. Builder had no idea what it was. Has done loads of these floors apparently.
Also two substrates (old...
Yes it's that damned gypsum screed!
The builder assured me it's been sanded & laitence removed all bar one room. I'm on site today and they've got a guy using an electric hand sander with 80 grit paper. I don't think that's manly enough, how can I tell if the laitence has been taken down...
Hi There,
Just wondering if anybody has had any experience tiling onto cemfloor liquid screed. The screeder is telling me that its a new cement based screed and that it doesn't need to be sanded or primed before putting the tile down? The surface is smooth and rock solid but I've always sanded...

We have around 50m2 of 120cm x 20cm porcelain floor tiles to lay onto 75mm screed. I understand the tiles should not be laid for at least a couple of weeks after pouring the screed and using ditra matting or similar would be wise. There will also be wet underfloor heating which we may turn on...

So I've got a bit sick of self leveling crap floors so I've just spent a good few quid on a load of refina screed edges and a polly float a new 4"x14" steel trowel and some kinda like snow shoes and I've told my mate the builder I'm gonna be doing the next floor and he was pretty happy as his...
We had a 50mm anhydrite screed down over a DPM around 100 days ago. For the first 50 days the conditions were far from ideal for drying @1mm/day (early Feb, definitely no where near 20 degrees air temp, fresh plaster throughout, room open to elements). After around 50 days we comissioned the UFH...
Hi, any advice on tiling over a crack 750 wide? Basically there's a 300 resess to the back door and it seems as the builder has patched in the concrete in the small area to the existing original concrete floor after the new back door has been fitted. It also sounds pretty hollow. I know I could...
Hi, Looking at putting electric UFH down in the kitchen onto an uninsulated concrete floor. Plan to use 6mm insulation boards under the mat, but my question is do I need to lay a screed down over the mat before then laying the tiles + adhesive? Most of the UFH manufacturers offer the choice of...

Hello folks,
New to the site, just introduced myself, what a fantastic site it is and love to see people helping others, well done.
I'm tiling a wet room next week, the only thing different is the contractor has supplied homelux membrane. I'm used to the wet kits like wp1 or Palace / Mapei...
I am having wet underfloor heating installed on top of 150mm insulation. The screen will be approximately 75mm. I will be laying 10mm porcelain tiles. How long should I realistically wait until tiling onto the area as I am reading conflicting things.
I am hoping that 21 days should surfice
