the tile association
The Tile Association for the whole tile industry in the UK
The Tile Association was started some time ago. It was two associations joining forces, a retailers one and a Tile fixers one, if I remember it correctly.
There are benefits of being a wall and floor tile fixer who has joined TTA such as an internal newsletter, access to British Standards, back-up from them when products fail and you need a report saying so, and you get listed on their website which has good feels for your own website (Google likes quality links), and actual humans who search for a tiler know they get a quality one from The Tile Association website unlike with check my builder type websites that don't know tiling so can't vet people who claim to be one.
There are lots of other benefits too. Checkout their website Tiles.org.uk.
Hi guys, I have Portuguese terracotta floors (hand made St Catarina tiles), I laid these floors myself over 20 years ago and they were treated the traditional way, with boiled linseed oil and wax, over the years discolouration and white patches have developed in patches here and there (...

Hi everyone at Tilers,
I am restoring one of the ruins on my land in Extremadura. The ruin has beautiful dry stone walls but the terracotta roof is leaky and the floor is just concrete and it would be good to liven it up a bit.
I would like to tile the floor and would love it if you could give...
Hi. It looks as though the plumber may have to remove some of the teracotta floor tiles on our kitchen floor because we have a leak coming from a pipe underneath. He has promised to try and be careful not to break them but will a tiler be able just to grout them in again without too much trouble.

Hi chaps,
Just moved into a new house and to say the floor has been abused would be an understatement.
It looks as if someone went to a lot of effort and expense to lay them then simply didn't bother to clean them again.
Up until now I've used LTP power stripper (1:4 dose, 3 applications)...
 ... at least not my son (age 8)....
We're having quite a storm here, cold, windy, rain hammering down......Robby's baseball game was cancelled and he was quite unhappy.
So, I was up here in my office, listening to the rain batter the side of the house, hearing thumps and bangs, and I...
Hi Fellas,Any one recommend a sealer for terracotta floor job ,got about 20m2 or so,have heard you need to give it 4 coats but I would have thought now days there must be something on the market that could suffice with two coats.
Would it be less hassle to seal before laying as opposed to...

I have somehow managed to avoid terracotta until now,
I have to price a job tomorrow, around 17m2. The client is sealing them themselves, (with what I won't know until tomorrow)
I have been swotting up on terracotta, but am unsure on whether to cut them with the Dewalt, wet or dry? will...
I am doing a self build and my tiler has made a brilliant job of laying 60 m2 of terracotta 20 x 20 floor tiles. They have had 2 coats of linseed before laying and one after. We are now set to apply the beeswax but can't find a suitable floor polisher to finish the job off. Our local hire...
The Tile Association is undoubtedly a worthy body and I imagine that their annual awards dinner is a suitably corporate event - but with tickets at about £100 a throw, I guess that your average tile fixer wont be attending.
First off - anyone from here attending?
Secondly - the mind...
Terracotta is a new beast to me! :yikes:
Im confident about laying it but have heard a few horror stories with regards to sealing it....
The customer isn't fussed about a matt or gloss finish, so I would like to keep it as simple as poss. With this in mind, is it a matter of:
(1) laying...
