Hi guys ,
Been to have a look at 4 bathroom floors for a builder and there is a hot water system under 6mm Hardi backer boards, never come across it before so I'm interested if any of you guys would consider tiling onto this and if so what would be your method of apllication as I was thinking...
Got a wet room to tile inside the shower area and I'm unsure which substrate to use either Hardie backer board or moisture resistant plasterboard, two walls r brickwork one wall is studded
Hello all,
I'd really appreciate some expert advice about what type of backer boards I should use for my bathroom floors.
The original floor is 20mm ply glued & screwed to metal web joists. On top of that we've fixed 25 x 50mm battens (at 400mm centres) & in-between the battens we've got UFH...

Usually if my sigma is on the job I cut my hardi with that it's quick easy and accurate or if not I scribe it a million times and snap it but having just treated my self to a bosch GAS 35 AFC M I was wondering has anyone used one of them fancy blades in a circular saw attached to the dust...
Can anyone advise me on whether I should prime marmox multiboard with BAL SBR before tiling using BAL Single Part Flexible adhesive or can I tile straight onto the boards.
Thanks

Hello,
A bit confused with variety of XPS backer boards. Wedi, Kerdi, Jacko, Dukka, Marmox - is there any real difference in quality between them? I have used Wedi before, it is great, but it is twice more expensive. I will use it for porcelain tiles on the walls, if it makes any difference.
Any...

Hi.
I am pricing a small bathroom. It has been refurbished with new chipboard flooring. Do I need to use a backer board or will flexible adhesive cope? There's not much movement and the new boards are level. There are two steps into the bathroom so a doorway is not affected by levels. Advice...

Hi,
We (rather Other-half) had finally got to the last shower installation in out renovation - so far one wet room, one shower room and one bathroom (shower bath) this is going to be our en-suite.....eventually.....!
The bedroom is on the ground floor and has a concrete floor (no insulation)...
i use a fair amount of hardi backer and while it's great stuff it's also a massive pain in the arse.
Heavy
Horrible to cut
Worse to cut holes in
Then there's fixing it
The screws are awfull
Fixing is my biggest gripe by a mile where it is so hard it sometimes does not pull in to the stud work...
Hi All
looking at a bathroom today, all the walls need boarding which would either be fixed to joists or to brickwork, the customers looking at a tile size of 600x300mm, hasn't choose the tile, just the size!!! so could be porcelain.
Bath suite is out so no chew with boarding.
Green Moisture...
Think I've been under charging for prep work to make sure I get to do it and know it's done right.
What do people charge supply and fit?
I'm figuring around £30 m² should be about fair
Any thoughts
anybody got experience of using small mosaics, 25mm or so, on a showerlay tray? Marmox say it's ok for domestic use but their official word seems to be 50mm.
Any input welcome as my customer is set on a 25mm mosaic.

Having never done it, can you guys advise on a rough step by step guide for fixing marmox or hardie to different kinds of wall.
For studded and skimmed walls and for brick walls both plastered and not plastered. Need to know about the gluing and screwing for both instances.
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,
After spending time carefully prepping a small ensuite with backer board, a local tiler (pro - not just a jack of all trades) has done a good job on the walls but has messed up the floor.
The narrow walls are plumb straight, but the back wall is not. For some reason the tiler has used...

Do these always need to be fitted with adhesive over timber chipboard flooring? Is it possible to just screw it down with washers. Here is what it says on the site. It's 6mm board.

Evening all, me again!
Just primed (3 to 1 sbr) one side of a sheet of my backer board in preparation for putting some up tomorrow and it has warped! I can press it flat to the wall but it has me concerned. How much warp is too much? Is this normal?
Thanks!

Hi all,
Going to be fixing 'no more ply' backer board to a mixture of wall substrates (both breezeblock, one with old sand and cement render, the others the same but with a plaster finish skim). Will be solid bedding (8mm square notched trowel) with mapei keraflex maxi, and mechanically fixing...
