"Sealing" with PVA before tiling - DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME by Dan posted Feb 7, 2017 at 10:14 PM
Not sure how to work this forum, will this work?
Old but comedy gold.
This tiling job is something I've put to one side for ages. I'm hoping that somebody can do the job in the next couple of weeks. Please get in touch if you'd like to quote for this work.
THIS JOB IS A TEST JOB TESTING THE NEW SYSTEM OUT - IT ISN'T ACTUALLY A JOB I NEED DOING.
im hoping someone has a idea i haven't thought of for this one, tomorrow i night i have to go and price up a bathroom in an old cottage, i did the floor earlier this year, ended up having to put down an epoxy based dpm, with all relevant parties contacted, tec depts, a damp specialist etc etc...
Hiya.
In a few months we plan to rip the bathroom out and redo the lot. As I need the practice and want to get everything right, I am going to reboard all the walls with Marmox, tile it and get a plumber to fit a new bath suite.
The stud walls shouldn't be a problem. Take all the old...
Got a job next week with one wall having a fair convex bow in the middle-ish of the wall. Usually I would level/feather with rapid cement based tile adhesive using my feather edge etc but the question is - what is the max depth per layer when leveling using rapid set? Am I correct in thinking...
Hi need advice please. About to install 600 x 600 porcelain 12mm thick on walls in a bathroom. What would be the best size trowel to use. Should I go for solid bed .? Cheers
I have always tiled walls first then floor last, even in wet rooms, to save working all over the floor and risking damage, I see a few photos of people doing it the other way round, the final finish shouldn't look any different really, why risk tiling floor first? Unless it's for the wall and...
Hi everyone
I have purchased just over 2 square metres of 18mm thick encaustic cement tiles to use as a kitchen splashback in several different areas.
As far as I can see I am yet to find a tile edger that is thick enough to hide the edge (which is rough) of the tiles +adhesive. Photos I've...
Got a job coming up and the Walls are filled with straw and plasterboard over it.....
Anyone come across this before..
And no ...the 3 little pigs don't live there before you ask..:)
Hi all,
Really need some advice on how to tile my bathroom walls. Currently the walls have small 2-3mm thick ceramic tiles that are stuck on very firmly. I've been advised by the tiller that he can tile directly on top of the tiles. Just wondering what the best options are. I've been...
Do you need to borrow my 2m straight edge? No mate we'll be fine.
Well here's the results
The 'joiners' fixed 45mm studs to the wall and inserted 50mm insulation and then the board over the top. I had to remove all the boards, get 72x 2.4m lengths of 6mm ply cut into 70mm widths to bring out...
Hi there. So i have a job coming up. 5 fully tiled bathrooms. Glazed Porcelain tiles 300 x 600. First bathroom is 'ready'. Went to price it up. Tiles are a discount lot. 2 batch numbers which isnt a problem, but no box weight. So 2 walls in the first bathroom are skimmed plaster on pb. ( in...
Who does it whenever possible? I do sometimes but I rarely try and match all 4 walls up with the floor. It often compromises the set out of the walls. Do you try and match up the end with the width with using 60x30 tiles?
Looking for a tiler and would prefer someone from here.

I've started ripping out this bathroom and the walls are bloody awful. Tiled over plaster( a bit like bonding covered with the Spanish equivalent of Artex). I've got off as much of the plaster as I can but here's my quandary , I've got 60 x 30 porcs to go up. What would be your preferred option?
