They are hardly going to build a cycle lane in the middle of the road. Cycling two abreast is nearly in the middle of road anyway as you need to cycle about a metre of kerb side anyway because of drains and pot hole. I could care less if you think that is ignorant. And if someone hits me when I am cycling the only person I would blame would be the driver. And they are changing the laws up here to back that up

so if a driver overtook you at a safe place and you pulled out in front of him resulting in you getting hit you would blame him?

i have nothing against cyclists but i do have an issue when they ride 4 wide on country roads and give you abuse when you overtake them..manners and common sense cost nothing

why would i pull out on the opposite side of the road if he is overtaking me safely thats just stupid.

if you are getting abuse you must be to close its pretty simple. and it doesnt matter how many abreast they are. when overtaking a cyclist give them plenty room. so specifically on country roads you should overtake them as you would another car, on the opposite side of the road, therefore overtaking them safely
the whole reason people cycle farther out on the road is to deter impatient drivers from nipping past them,,,, .go out on your bike a try it, you will then understand where cyclist are coming from

I dont mind them, unless they are 2 abreast and can't be arsed moving,ignorant posstots , they aint busses and can be run off the road easy, little nudge on the back tyre, hey presto no more wiggins wannabe !

I think they are fair game if riding more than 2 abreast.
