i have never seen such bad workmanship, maybe he wanted somewhere to hang his coat. on a serious note i would not be happy with the same workman re tiling the room, someone that would 'tile' to that standard, in my option will never make a good job, he does not have the 'eye' or enough skill.
regarding the ply, that as a priority needs replacing, do you know what adhesive was used, ready mixed in a tub or powdered?
lots of good advice already given on here,
as a parting thought if you are not 100% happy with the work, then you will look at the tiling every time you walk in the room and regret having it done.

all the best

I just read this thread, its made me really sad. It stinks when the builder knows full well, this lady is a little 'fragile' at the moment and didnt even pick up the sub-standard quality of the workmanship. Wheres the pride these days? so called tilers cant slap tiles up and think the client wont notice. As for the architects reaction and approach to the problem, in a word he is a pig, I could use more colourful language but I wont lower the tone in this thread.

I do hope this problem is sorted out asap, its appalling for you to be put in this position.
