Not mine ( fortunately ) but my Brothers, we've been working in a cul de sac off a private road in Reigate, very quiet place, anyway he came out of the house with some tools to put in the van, when he got there someone has hammered a screwdriver or something into the lock, mangled it out of the door and made off with his TX700, 'lucky' for him that most of his kit was in the house still. It just goes to show that nowhere is safe from these scum bags, be aware people.

:incazzato:I cant see why anyone would nick a tile cutter, unless it was a big DeWalt or they know the value. They are too big and heavy, can you imagine running down the road with a TX700!

They will take anything, how much do we have to do to protect our kit ? tool safe ? they'll be taking the whole van next, can't say what I would like to do to them on open forum, but you get the idea.

Had this issue they aim for just under the lock on the side door (toyota) get some deadlocks ... Or get the labourer to sit just behind the door with some pepperspray !

PUT THEM IN CHAINS AND SHIP THEM OFF TO ANOTHER LAND WITH THE REST OF THE SCUM

or has that been done already

sucks

Rubbish when it happens and there's not much you can do about it, if they want to break in they will. You just have to make sure you're fully covered, it's all we can do (unless we catch them)

My brother had £6000 worth of tools stolen from his lock up last summer, ( builder )
The thing is, their not just taking your tools, their taking your ability to provide for your family! But and this is the good bit, when you and i earn our money in a honest way, and save for some thing, how good do you feel? me, i feel like this, :smiley2:.

They probably didn't even know what the TX700 was and it's no real use to the diy market. I'd love to catch someone doing it .....on second thoughts I don't think I could trust myself if I did.

So if anyone hears of a TX700 for sale in Surrey you know to pass on the info  It may seem futile but there's always a chance it will appear somewhere as it has a limited market and these guys are probably dumb.

don't vans have alarms on them like cars? if somebody stuck a screwdriver into the lock of my Corsa, I'm pretty sure it would set the alarm off.

even if you just buy and install one of those £20 jobbies, they seem to be quite sensitive to any movement.

Good thinking Liz  better than a guard dog chained up, they'd probably kill or hurt the dog... 🙁 Yes, why no alarm??

Chances are they'll probably just dump the Rubi as soon as they show it to their fence (dealer ?) and he laughs in their faces - keep a lookout in the hedgerows of Reigate.

Are gang boxes widely available and used in the UK? One of our current jobs is in Washington DC. Nothing is safe there. We have all the really valuable stuff in gang boxes. The best brand is KNAACK. Some one would have to use a cutting torch to get into those boxes.
