Bad Tileing Job Advice needed?

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

I wonder if any one can give me some advice. I live in a fairly new build house that was built 8 years ago. And have lived here since house built. It's owned by housing association.

House was not well built and have had continual problems. Most recently tiles started falling off wall in bathroom.

I called housing association and they sent out a tiler yesterday. He removed tiles and re tiled but I don't think he did it properly and it looks terrible.

After he removed tiles he re stuck the non broken ones on wall straight away and replaced broken ones with tiles that don't even match. he did not clean wall or prep wall. He did not use spacers between tiles. And grouted and cleaned tiles straight away after with out letting tiles dry.
He did it all in the space of 1 1/2 hours.
He made a lot of mess as well grout and tile adhesive every where including all over floor.

To us it looks a mess most of the tiles are miss aligned, tiles don't match, grouting does not look great.

I've uploaded some pictures and wondered what other people think. Am I just being fussy or does it look a bad job. Should I contact housing association and inform them and complain.

Any advice much appreciated
Thanks in advance 20190115_171801.jpg 20190115_171743.jpg

It's not the best but far from the worst we see on here. By all means contact your landlord but as you haven't paid for the work you may not get the response you want. The guy is probably told just to patch it up quickly and move on to the next one.

getting tiles to match is not easy considering the batch numbers will be different and possibly not even made anymore.

Tiles will never match as there different batches, you will never find the same batch from 8 years ago.
Should imagine it's just been patched up till it gets revamped again, by the housing association.

I used to do alot work for landlord's and my client was always the landlord not the tenant, before slating the tiler, find out what the landlord asked him to do...

Not the best really but the maintanence guys working for councils and housing associations normally have a job sheet in the morning and have to get through it by the end of the day, hence the speed and end result not being quite up to that of someone working for a private customer.
As said above, give them a call and see what they say. But it’s normally function over form I’m afraid.
