See this all the time, 12mm min for ply, why can't you use 6mm? what are the affects of using thinner ply?

Wouldn't a good flexi grout prevent this thoughon a thin ply?

(Not trying to pick at things btw just after answers for every eventuality)

this blokes floor was like a trampoline though. For peace of mind, (and the dreaded call from the customer ) I'm sticking to 12mm

The reason for fitting the ply is to ensure a sound & solid backgound
to lay your tiles onto, at 6mm your exposing yourself as the ply being so thin it can follow the surface of the flooring beneath(uneven) or issues with movement as it is so thin especially on larger format tiles, only use 6mm where there are real issues with raising
the floor height by 12/15/18mm etc, and explain to the customer if you
do the possibilty of issues occuring, if they are happy to proceed still you
have covered as best you can.

P.S. when laying ply i use nail gun 150mm apart, bearing in mind the
depth as noted above not to penetrate the sub flooring... e.g.12mm ply
& 18mm sub flooring you can use nails safely 20-25mm do a 10mt floor
literally in 10 minutes...
