Border tiles fixing(one method)

Dispersion adhesives shrink when they dry out and if the tile is bedded out it can cause cracking in the grout that will not show for days possibly weeks.

ive just rembered that when mixing the grouts up i only used 746mls of water instead of 750mls recommended, the consistency felt so right though. but i proceeded to apply it, now i cant sleep thinking about it and am worried ive affected the integrity of the grout, will go to work tomorrow and rake it all out and re do it.

Good man, nice to see someone taking their work seriously. that would be on my mind as well if I had made such an error, although I dont think I would have.

Tubbed adhesive is ready mixed for amateur tilers, It will never see the inside of my van.

so anyone who uses a tubbed adhesive is a amateur, well im on the phone tomorrow to the likes of mapei, bal sovereign and quoting and linking them to thris thread, by the way mapei is a major sponsor on here and im sure they will be pleased to here what you think of their products.

mapei make excellent adhesives, their bagged varieties are second to none, they also make a tubbed adhesive to suit another buyer, I just choose not to use it or any other tubbed addy because I have seen so many failures.

Tubbed addy is a of a maximum 3mm bed when tiles are applied and one surface needs to be absorbant

There is a time and place for using dispersion adhesives but there are better products on the market for tiling bathrooms and wet areas now and there is no reason not to use them. You are obviously a competent tiler but we all need to stay on top of the game and produce the best work we can and some times looks are not every thing.

These comments may seem critical to yourself sean but this is how we learn, the advise is solid and not meant to insult your work (which is good stuff) take it in and follow it.

Were here to help.

They also make fix and grout...would you use that ?
You have also exceeded the depth allowed. fixed a stone border?
Also correct me if i am wrong but bedded out the main tiles ?

So on one hand you quote your statement above but then want to break their rules ?

As others have said, for this job Cementitous adhesive is King although i use Dispersion adhesive when i feel is suitable.

All this fuss over adhesive, is it worth it ?
