Concrete floor problem

Thanks for that Ajax...i hoped you would shed some light on this, I cant believe that some form of epoxy coating couldnt be used but its not for me to say. They are awaiting the written report and then decide what to do.

There is no visible signs of cracking etc. Removing this floor would mean a new kitchen as the existing one is old. I am wondering if the buyer is trying it on ?

Yes you could use an epoxy topping. Check out this one - it gives a really nice durable shiny black finish.........

Only time I ever seen core samples done is if there is an obvious problem with the concrete. Mind you it would be a great way for a savvy buyer to drive the price of a porperty down with a less savvy seller eh.....if you get my drift...:incazzato:

Cheers mate, i will pass all this info on when they get the official report. I think they should get a 2nd opinion.

Who has done the report?
Dunno, they were all ready to sign the papers on the afternoon when one of them got a call on the morning and the buyer had asked for this test and a check on woodwork....all suspect to me...surely they had a survey doing before this ?

sounds like a ploy to get price reduction to me. You know leave it till the last minute and then find a problem. The seller has their hopes up of a good sale and are more vulnerable to "attack". I admire the buyers grasp of purchasing psychology but I'd have told em to bog off. I guess it depends how desperate the seller is though.

praps they worried about concrete worm getting into the wood or vice versa......

If they do want a second opinion I can give you some contact details for the BRE or for the Concrete Society. If any use let me know

Thats great mate but i will have to wait untill they say what the report says and then i will let you know and get your opinion. No use speculating before we hear the facts. Thanks again
