if it's poor quality then you are liable, but only if they give you the chance to rectifiy it, if they don't then they can't chase you for any costs and I believe they still have to pay you

If on the other hand it's not the work but the style they don't like, then they have to pay all costs regardless

If you have used tubbed adhesive in this bathroom and you have used it to build out the tiles then you are letting yourself in for many problems. The tiles will in all probability slip or slump creating lipps,

Thanks guys for all your responses, really appreciat them. I'm not gonna stress over this no more, although it puts on hold some other jobs, plus it makes a big hole in our budget, but just need to tighten the belt some more and swollow it,nowthat I got over the first shock, never been turned down this way in 10 years time.

By the way, everything looked fine to me when I left, she calledme and told me this through phone, so I'm going in tonight to see what the actual real problem is, might be able to take few pics. Also I don't use tub stuff, unless the customers have already bought it.

Don't get me wrong sometimes I do, just like using the stuff I'm use to, but of course it depends on the job, weather etc. etc.

On a plus side I suppose if they do want one side re-doing then they will come off easily

Im usually controversial so ere goes!:smilewinkgrin: lets not split hairs here,shes taking the p...if that was me it would be the last job i ever did them and id go see her father or whoever it was that put you onto the job,be frank but polite and id explain that 5mm is literally splitting hairs!,,to me shes looking for the slightest excuse to get out of paying...thats a bridge you dont need to walk over again,..im just saying thats what ive done and would do in the real world...dont let people ride you and reconise it for what it is...your generosity has been blited...people like that dont deserve you...And good luck to whom ever puts what wasnt wrong apparently right...im sure they,ll end up p'ng them off as well.

getting a bit carried away here, how does the customer know its 5mm out if its been tiled to a datum line as mentioned, where are they getting their measurement from

the ceiling down? . the floor up?

what are level datum lines for and why should they be used in every installation

mate how long did it take you?? tell them in writing that you are prepard to finish the work even at the reduced price. if they say no. you are covered!! all you lost then is a few days . put it behind you and forget its not worth loseing sleep over.
bet you wont do favours for friends like that again . remember this is your work and livelihood. mate
