Discoloured Travertine - Help Needed

Hi to all !! As I've had such a warm welcome since joining the tiling forum, I thought I'd pick your brains !!
I recently had a call off a lady asking if I could do anything about her discoloured tiles. I went and had a look and she had a floor to ceiling wet room with floor done in the same tile. There is underfloor heating fitted. Obviously expensive, and by the looks of it - unsealed travertine.
The room had been done 2 years ago, she had no idea what the tile was and had no off cuts in the garage! They are a red travertine but I have no idea what make/supplier they are. They do have a cleaner come in to clean the wet room and are wondering if this has added to the problem.
The tiles had started discolouring straight away, after 2 years they were really bad. They have gone very grey in areas and look like any polish/finish has been completely eaten away to the point where they don't resemble the same tile.
Has anyone else had the same problem, and if so what cleaner have you used and is there anything that can be used to polish the tiles and bring them back to a decent finish.
Any help would be appreciated.

i think they should have been sealed tbh.If they have been using a hard detergent to clean them then they' might' be beyond repair. Some more experienced stone guys will be on shortly.

Thanks Brian. To be honest, I am afraid that they maybe beyond help, but you know what its like, people want miracles !!

You get an idea of the original colour, and that the discolouration is in the main wet areas, but you can also see how bad it is !!
