I wouidl say it was a wood floor as its on the first floor of the house. As it wasn't my job and the owner doesn't seem too clued up on what was done, I'm clutching at straws a bit !! I have told her to find out what has been used to clean them though !
The lighter parts look like hardwater deposits ( lime)... and the red'ish colouring is deffo somesort of staining..,, possibly from cleaning solution or even shower gels.
The job is in Stoneygate, Leicester. It is a very hardwater area. The red is certainly a stain from something as it has a shape to it. Could the hardwater discolouration be cleaned though?
The hardwater can be cleaned yes..you can see in the wetfloor area near the drain the actual falling of the water and lime left behind..and as it is in the wet area ,that it's worst bit , then deffo hardwater deposits.
The stain looks like maybe a box containing gels etc might have been stood there..
