Ditra on Anhydrite

Have worked on a few of these now and once dry we have abraided , hoovered , primed with Mapei eco prim T and adhered the ditra with keraquick....

Good to see another tiler who isn't scared of anhydrite.

ardex recommend , ardex af 200 to stick ditra to timber floors , which i have recently used, great product , just wondering why itcant be used on gyvlon screed,

nobody seems to want to commit to the correct method imo

It is nice to see there are tilers willing to be the ginipigs and take responsibility for how dry the floor is and wether the primers adhesives and membranes are compatible. Good luck with that I truly hope it never comes back to haunt you.

They are more of a beige colour.. :lol:

the only benefit of a anhydrate screed is the ease and speed of installation,
that's all folks!!

I am atm in the middle of making good a floor installation that had failed, anhydrite screed not abraded not primed correctly. I have had to clean each tile to get rid of the old adhesive residue, then abrade the screed, prime with Eco-prim-grip, retile using Keraquick & latex plus.

The old adhesive shows the tell tale signs of latience on the underside very chalky powder like substance, the floor was never going to last.
The floor is 200m2, and the guy who did it is no doubt doing the same thing on the next job. This just shows the lack of knowledge out there.:mad2:

On another note.. why are we being ripped off with gypsum adhesives..?

I've got my 1st Anhydrite job coming up, and have to say, i'm pretty nervous! 180m of Travertine. Is there anything that i need to be aware of ,with regards to the Trav?

make sure it dry, clean, sanded and vacuumed and use a gypsum compatible adhesive....

Check moisture content, do not let the customer or other trades dictate how and when it is right to go, vac up after sanding,

Have you chosen your adhesive?

Pretty sure I can get a hygrometer sent to you if you like, let me know.

I would go down the root of getting the adhesive company to do a spesification and let them do any tests that need doing I would not stick your neck out to far with these screeds.
