In my few experiences of being in Spain, i don't recall much use of plasterboard over there. The D&D issue on this thread originally was dealing with stone onto plasterboard. Maybe directly onto concrete or the block work they use over there it is more acceptable, and for a guess, with the general everyday tempratures over there moisture wouldn't hang around too long to do much damage.

As it is, despite and in addition to everything that has been previously written in the thread it is not an acceptable method of fixing according to British Standards Guidlines/Rules whichever way you want to interpret them. I have never used the method as I am quite new to the industry and I don't forsee that I ever will so I am no expert on the subject. Fascinating reading though.

doesnt matter where the **** we are, dot and dab is ok if done correctly with a bead around the entire edge of the tile but i agree after looking at the pictures i would have these ripped out and done again

i have to cut one of these out tomorrow due to the sparky drilling a 30 mm hole in the wrong place
the slab was dot and dabbed on
so we will see how easely it comes off
i bet it brings most of the concreat block with it

Ok here we go again so what do you call don correctly? And it dos mater were the **** we are. Just becols you say it is ok to do it in Spain dos not mean it is ok in this country the Spanish have a lot of different methods and they have a lot of different building regulations. I have been to Spain on several occasions and have spoken to a number of Spanish fixers but to be honest I have never come across one that was spot fixing. I have seen them fix in sand and cement but that was solid bed (proper old school) I have also seen them fix in cement-based adhesive with a notched trowel on to rendered walls. Don’t know were you were working but you are way of the mark by saying (nearly every tile in Spain is dot and dabbed) maybe every tile you fixed in Spain was dot and dab. If dot and dab is ok “don properly” then get a reputable adhesive manufacturer to indorse your method and I will take my hat of to you until then I will stick to the methods of fixing that are recognised in this country by the industry.
