At the end of each tax year, I promise myself, no messing about, I'm gonna get my books done straight away and get them into my accountant pretty sharpish this time. I never do and always end up leaving it till virtually last minute and adding to my overloaded accountants work load. When do you guys start to prepare your year end books? .........this year I'm starting mine straight away

within a week or two from the 5th! Why let the man earn all the interest on my money!!!

Always, gonna do then 'tomorrow'! lol
To be honest my books aren't bad this year, not perfect, but not bad. This is due to my wife cracking the whip, but thats another story!!

I try to keep some sort of system going all year. Let it go about Christmas so ive a big job sometime ive no work on to sort them out....Lets hope its not for a while!

My wife me bookkeeper accountant all get on it straight away but there always seems something to sort out at the last minute we spend our life ducking and diving from the tax man lol 😛ete

hi doug

that sounds a bit too familiar for comfort

the taxman turned up on my doorstep one year with a demand for £6000 , their estimate of what i should be paying , i got my return in that afternoon but still ended up with a £100 fine

so now i do it on line monthly with the customs and excise and in january i put the claim in for deductables, its never queried as they have the monthly ac in front of them and can see what i have earnt and spent

the upside is no fees, the downside is you cant be creative

not that im suggesting anyone on this highly proffesional forum would be creative and deprive the treasury of money to waste on essentials like............

dont get me started i will get banned :mad2:

Remember we have a pro accountant on the forums and he can sort you out at a decent rate should you need help. He's clearly up to speed with tilers books and even does the forum accountancy. 🙂

Good point Dan and we all know Grumpy wouldn't cook your books as i am sure he knows all the tilers tricks lol:hurray:
