fila stoneplus on natural honed black slate has left residue

Hi everyone!

My Tiler has just laid a honed black slate tile floor in my hall way and kitchen. He used Fila Stoneplus on it yesterday to seal it and the bottle said it would be dry in 8 hours.

We have left it over 12 hours but when I just ran my fingers over a tile it left smear marks. Surely this can't be the right finish?

Any advice?

two poss answers to ur problem. 1. did he wipe off the excess after leaving it dwell for 15 minutes? or 2. you say the slate is honed do you mean smooth and flat? if so it could be too much stoneplus on the slate and not able to penetrate! any pics?

Thanks for replying.

I am not sure if he wiped it as we wernt in. He is back this eve to grout the tiles so I will ask him.

If he didnt wipe it, what are our options? Can it be rectified?

He is grouting them this eve then returning tomorrow eve to do the second seal.

They are smooth and flat

he can clean and re-seal the tiles without too much hassle,just make sure the excess is removed with a dry clean cloth after 15-20 mins this time

he will need to remove the excess with a sealing and coating remover he might as well grout first now though then remove the sealer and then reseal
