Has anyone any experince in fixing these and the upstands. Been asked to quote but unsure on acouple of things. I presume I'll need a glass cutting disk for my wet cutter when I come to cutting the upstands. Any reccomendations on adhessive most welcome.

Cheers

These type of splash backs don't have painted backs...like some tiles do...as they are toughend glass as well....so mirror mate is fine....other wise you would need epoxy to fix.

Had some glass borders where the Silicon burnt thru (recommended by company)and replaced, paid for by the company

You don't want to knocking of glass after it's been fixed:thumbsdown:

I've never used these off the shelf ones, i've always had them made up by glaziers. I've only seen these 1m lengths pop up in the last six months, so never taken a close look

Silicon can bleed through..it's the acetate in it..mirror mate is nuetral curing so doesn't..

Cheers for your replies guys. I'll have to check on the exact type of glass and suppliers fixing reccomendations so I get it right. Hopefully be able to use the mirror mate. Nice simple job fingers crossed.

Dave, have you ever had a reaction with the backing? The adhesive dries by dispersion into the substrate, why you asked that I don't know, if you have had experience of reaction with this type of tile then I would like to know, look in my gallery for example of glass splash back that has stood strong ever since it was fitted.

THe splash back i am on about is the 600mm x 600mm type cooker splash backs....if you recommend using a dispersion adhesive on that size piece of glass then it is wrong..

And yes dispersion adhesive can effect painted back tiles...that is why it is wise to check with the manufacture first and not the tile shop as they will sell anything sometimes to stick them with...but the question was the topps splash backs and the up stands....and i would not advise tubbed gear on a 600mm square glass panel..some are bigger.

there are special silicones for sticking glass (with or without backings)
dont use addy of any sort! IMO

Dagger.
