each job to there own really on this as said above, for example the likes of galaxy tiles look cheapened by larger grout lines and b&spew's 600mm2 slate effect look good with 5-7mm grout lines!

generally speaking if its walls i use a 3mm spacer and if its floors i use a 3mm spacer.

this is because brian is too tight to purchase other sizes of spacers,so now the whole of kirkintilloch believes that is the only size that will work:lol:

Usually always 3mm on walls but I have used 2mm from time to time particularly if the tile is a smaller format size.
Floors are normally 3mm but on a rustic or large format (600mmx600mm) I'll often use 5mm.

For me I prefer the look of a small grout lines but sometimes certain styles of tile require something thicker.

Would totally depend on tile size, but walls-mainly 2-3mm, floors-mainly 3-10mm.

Does anyone ever check/ get their labourer to check that all tiles going into a certain area are the same size? I recently used B&Q 60 x 60 black polish porce' that were up to 2mm different.
Cheap Trav' also varies.

Anyone?

I voted both, It really depends on the type of tiles and the size.

I always give the customer 3 grout size options.
I lay the tiles out in front of them and they pick what they want , easy.

generally 3mm on walls and 4mm on floors, but each job is different. Tile size, room dimensions, borders, trim, customer expectations and overall finish all have an impact on my choice.

I try to avoid narrow joints though

Usually 2-3mm on walls and 4mm on floors, depends on the tile though. Used to always do walls with 3mm but lately I've become quite keen on using 2mm.

Do we all have our favourite brands of spacers? Tileasy are my favourite by a long shot. Nice brittle plastic that you can break the legs off if need be.
