Grout slopping on walls

Absolutely battered from work this week.
6 days on 2 projects put to bed.
Long story short......

Best way to stop grout slopping onto walls or protect the fresh paintwork please?
I like my grout to run fast off the float.
When I get into the riddim sometimes the leftwards upstroke slops a lot onto the wall.
Practice more or is there a good way to dress the walls first?

BTW I've been tiling on my own for 6 months & having a bloody great time. Even managing to keep my hands & overalls clean now.

What grout are you using and are you mixing it up as per the manufacturers recommendations? I am struggling to understand how you are having issues

Grout 3000 from Tilemaster doesn't slop at all. Best grout there is as far as "workability" is concerned. (technical term - rheology)

I've been tiling for far too long and I still can't keep Ultracolour plus from falling all over the floor.

Don't mix it so sloppy is the obvious answer...
In fact if it's to sloppy then the intagratey of the grout may be compromised... 🙂

Mapei UCP slides off trowel all the time, but I've yet to find a better alternative that is accessible up here!
