it's my 1st crack at tiling wetdec, (i'm not a tiler) doing my own kitchen floor, think i should have chosen something easier than travertine with 4 different sizes. looks ok though, just need some tips on finishin off. it's just that i've read on here that some seal before grouting. so if i have to give it it's second coat within 4 hours, i thought thats how long i'd got to grout it inbetween.

Trebor thought you were a tiler m8 sorry on that score. If your sealer is a water based one then you could seal them before grouting fella if not you best wait untill they are dry, on average 3 days.

If the travertine is honed then go steady and grout it whiping the residue off the tiles when it turns cloudy. The trick is to rinse your sponge after each pass and keep it as dry as possible. When you are done walk away then go back an hour later and whipe it again.

Then you need to let it dry out before buffing it off with a dry cloth, hoovering then sealing.

So you see what I meant stone carries a premium of up to £15 a m2 extra to lay, in a lot of cases its difficult to see exactly what some tilers provide for the extra money which is taking the pi**

Be lucky if you need more just ask

no need to apologies wetdec, and thanks for the advice. it's that unfilled stuff too, plenty of holes to fill.

If its unfilled then the same care should be taken, how much is difficult to say.

Have looked at topps but cant see which you have sorry.

Izmir which is honed and unfilled can be treated as honed trav

Chiaro which is plainly not filled at all, the care here should not be getting dirt in the grout.

Antiqued or brushed which is a satin looking Chiaro should be treated as Chiaro.

Go lightly with your sponge the less grout you remove from the voidy the better
