:furious3: :huh2: :huh2: :huh2:
We finished a bathroom yesterday (non British nanny and non British worker in the house, customers at work), we got a call today with a complaint the shower rail for the shower head is too high as there six year old can not reach the soap dish the bath room is now for the kids. They did not tell us that no adults would be using the shower and now they want us to go back next week when there in and move the shower rail and replace the tiles that now have the holes in,

PS: its only a 4 bedroom semi nothing flash

As usual you just have to bite your tongue and replace them with a big smile!!!!..

Understand where you are coming from Dave but no way i would be doing that for nothing. Not supposed to know it was for kids, obviously wires crossed but even still its no way the tilers fault.
Maybe it is cause i am in a ****ty mood atm. Finishing a bathroom earlier and said to the customer "ok so you want white grout on floors and walls?"
"yes"
"nps going to drive to the store and collect it"

45 minutes later i return ready to grout up collect cash and get home.

"been thinking whilst you were out, think i would prefer an ivory grout"

Big false smile on my face "why didn't you phone me?"
"oh i didn't think"

This was at half four and no way i was driving back to Topps in rush hour traffic.
So gotta go back tomorrow, was so looking forward to a day off :(

Been a bit of a mare of a job to be honest mate, just little fiddly things that have got me annoyed. Floor needed plying so told the bloke when i did the quote, nps he said "i have got ply in the garage". Took a look and there was 3 nice sheets of 18mm ply, perfect. The walls needed plastering so my dad did them about 4 weeks ago, was going to ply the floor aswell for me to save some time. Went down to get the ply and the bloke said "no, my uncle is a plumber and has said i should get brand new ply" fair enough my dad said but nothing wrong with that stuff. Didn't bother me when my dad said it i just thought the bloke was wasting money. Finished walls yesterday and went down to the garage to get the ply, mmm no new ply here. Asked the wife where the husband had put the ply, "hang on i will phone him" after she put the phone down.. "yeah he said use the old stuff, Jamie who fitted our kitchen said the ply is fine to use"
Annoying

Tiled the window sill with a white trim.. "no the husband wanted a silver trim"
"no he said he wants the sill white and that big wall corner in silver"
She tried to phone him but couldn't get through. "Can you wait 15 mintes and he should be home, sure it is silver he wants"

45 minutes later he comes in "yeah white on the sill and silver on the corner"
Could have threw her downstairs.

Some jobs are real smooth and the clients love your work, others inspect it and we all know we have a cut we are not so proud of here and there but they pick up the most inane things, maybe nothing to do with our tiling but as usual we have to sort it! I have replaced plumbers Silicon, skimmed walls the plasterer didnt turn up for, took off and replaced radiators, removed skirting etc. I suppose all thes things i mention when i quote and get assurances they will be done but we just do it and get on!

Did job last week(or tried too), removing tiles off bathroom and re-tile it. Told her would need everything removed eg Rad,shower unit, bath ect. Aye np's. Turns up to strip tiles, everything still in place and a whirlpool bath plumbed in?. Now tiles go right down to the flloor where bath is. Tell her i need bath moved to get tiles off,her reply is I want you to tile right down behind the bath incase in 20yrs time they want a shower unit instead off bath. Tell her again i need bath moved as how can i get tiles off if bath fitted, same reply. Trying my hardest not to swear, but what bit off i can't get tiles off the wall if bath fitted and tile right to the floor. eh we just paid £500 quid to get it fitted and my husband won't want it removed. Tell her only other options is to tile on top of tiles. My husband does'nt want the edge off the bath made any smaller as thats where the kids put their toys. Got a magic wand then!!!!. Decides tile on tile cheaper than moving bath. Go and pick tiles up and tiles 33.5cm x 45cm. Customer told me they where just standard bathroom tiles.FFS. No chance putting them on top. Go back and spend an 1 1/2hr explaining it to customer that she has to move the bath or change tiles. Told her she might have to order tiles so i would pull jobs forward to free up time for her later as i was fully booked till x-mas. Said this about 3 times to her. Phones me that night,we're going to change tiles, ok np's let me know if you get them asap have pulled job forward to free up time next week. WHAT your not coming tomorrow. Explain again if tiles not in stock and i didn't bring jobs forward i wouldn't be able to do hers plus i don't get paid if i aint working. Tut ok then. She phones me back, tiles will take a week to get delivered,ok then i will be able to come out and do it on wednesday late afternoon. What you can't come out when they get delivered. No!!! told you bring jobs forward to free up time for u. Phones me when they get delivered, thats the tiles here what time on Monday u coming. AHHHH FFS i said weds at the earliest.
SORRY FOR THE BOOK BUT U DID ASK. Rant Over:furious3:
