Thanks to everyone who has taken the time and trouble to reply.

I think on balance it would be wrong of me not to say something. To enlarge on the situation a bit it was a conversation that I overheared - the acquaintance is an old colleague who I worked with some time ago - not someone I necessarily socialise with but not someone I would want to leave in the lurch either. The guy he was talking to is a builder I know. Neither of them really know what I do for a living. I was being rude and eavesdropping - don't think I'll bother again. I do meet them both on a regular basis on a semi social basis.

I do know it wasn't sanded and I do know it was not primed - they were talking PVA and it was mentioned that as the screed was not old it did not need a suction agent (as it was described). :yikes: scream on so many levels......

Will approach it softly softly to not cause a fuss and if they want further help they can ask. I can always just offer them the assistance to make sure they are not being spun too many lines.

Cheers guys.

Sounds like it could end in tears. I would wait for them to ask my advice:mad2:

Thanks Guys for all of the continued replies. Here is what I have done.

I happened to want some advice myself (Not really but needed a premise to ring said acquaintance) and during the conversation I flippantly asked if they got any jobs going where he works cos the screeding game is hard work blahdiblahdiblah. It went on a bit and I created an opportunity to explain what I do for a living. I mentioned I had heared him talking to said Builder and that he should have got the inlaws to come to me - would have sorted a deal sort of stuff. The conversation went on and I suggested he take a look at my company website if he needs any info going forward and if he needs any advice in future jobs just give me a shout. Hopefully when the floor fails he will remember the conversation and call me for help. I asked him how much the inlaws had paid - he did not know how much the screeding was but he reckoned the floor tiles were £30K :yikes:. Some sort of italian marble.

Will await the call now.
