The Alpros are brilliant once you break them in. Worth every penny IMO.

Got a pair of Redbacks and found them absolutely horrible and had sore knees for a week after, so I think it's down to personal preference/knee type. They sounded brilliant for bathroom walls, ah well, will give them another go in a few months time to see.

I'll take them off your hands if your really don't like them 😉

Will give them another go and if I don't get on with them again you're welcome to them.

Do they need broken in? Wore them on and off for about a week then two days solid on a big floor and knees felt terrible afterwards. Very hard/firm compared to the Alpros, didn't seem like much comfort in them to be honest.

I use the snickers 9118 knee pad inserts , the ones with the soft beads ! I've tried quite a few knee pads including the red backs and Alpro's and have found the above to be the best!!

I've used these and did find them really comfy but after one big floor they weren't beads any more, more like squashed, flat bits of polystyrene! Wore out far too quickly IMO

Think i need to try these. I wear the snickers ones with the beads mentioned above and find them ok... 6/10. I also have more robust ones that have straps that wrap around the thigh, knee and calf that i use if doing large floors, i rate these pretty much the same though, the knee strap can dig in a bit

Get the alpro pad, you don't need to worry about the straps then. I have an old one for fixing and a nice clean new one for going over newly laid stone etc so nothing gets scratched. The large alpro pads are great too, i just leave them where i work, no need to strap them on.

The Alpro kneeling pads are great, very warm to kneel on too. Just keep your eye on them, mine was stolen !

Mark, you can try my pair of Redbacks when I see you next. You won't use anything else. What trousers do you use as you will require knee pad pockets to hold them. I'd never use strapped knee pads again.
