LTP Grimex.

Anybody ever used this?

I've been to see a job and the customer asked me to tile over the most beautiful original Caithness black flagstones in their ensuite:yikes:

I've suggested trying to clean and restore the flags first as I expect them to come up really well - if the ensuite comes up OK, then he will possibly look to do the entire house as well.

The flags are grubby looking and have residues of cement, etc where he has removed stud walls that were fixed over themrrr:

I'm looking just to strip/clean them back to the original stone and seal them to a gloss finish, using Ironwax Gloss and Floorshine once they are clean

Just not sure how powerful Grimex is and possibly considering Power Stripper.

I used it on some polished porcs the other week just to remove the wax. I personally don't think it will be strong enough to strip floors mate

used it once on black slate, (previously sealed) ok but could have been a bit better. might have been better left on longer

before using it.. check it is not black limestone.. grimex is unsuitable for it..

Think it sounds like Power Stripper will be better??

it's great for degreasing and cleaning grime and grout haze. Not used it for cleaning cement stains tho'

Hi - question for MerleCollins - how did you get on with the floor? I have been recommended this product to use on a Caithness (riven stone) floor where builders have unhelpfully sealed the floor with Fila slate protector without cleaning it first. Would be interested to hear how the LTP Grimex worked on the floor you were asked to look at

Hi i would use power stripper its a more powerful stripper then grimex then i would seal with iron wax primer first then use one of the ironwaxes depending on the finish they want.

Power stripper is great for dissolving stubborn stuff but Grimex is one of the most powerful grime removers there is , if used properly..
