Well finally it got used. Absolutely brilliant just about sums it up.
It got the whole site talking about it and everyone said how well made it looked, after using it to cut Porcelain 600x300 all day a quick clean and it looks great. Easier to clean than the Rubi.
Site agent very impressed with lack of spray, so was i....no water on my T Shirt at all
Its handy as well the way it breaks down into 3 components...Cutter, tray and stand. This means it can fit in the back of the car easily...again better than the Rubi.
Cant wait to use it again but i guess 150x150 johnsons ceramics tomorrow may be overkill :lol:

How does this cope when you have a large "L" shape to cut out a say a 600x600 tile?

Does the frame holding the motor not restrict the size of this kind of cut?

It would depend on how big the "L" cut was and how far into the tile it was but yes i admit there could be issues at times. I am sure there would be a "work around" method.

On tiles that can be snapped on a dry cutter you can cut into the middle of the L cut on a 45 angle by sitting the tile on diamond on the wetsaw and then cut to the corner of the L cut and then the 2 straight cuts are snapped on a dry cutter.

This is only if the tile protrudes more than 330mm to the left side where the pillar is.

I think you'd be alright on a 600x600 as you'd always be able to flip the tile over if your measurements below are right

Have you cut a tile upside down yet? does it chip the face at all when doing this?

I suppose you could flip the tile and cut from the back.
Not ideal, but it could work.

I think I'll stick with the traditional style. Purely because tiles are getting so big, this kind of scenario will happen more and more.

When the machine was set up i tried many things and "L" cuts were easy even if the arm were to be in the way. The plunge facility on the Dewalt is far superior IMO to that of the Rubi machine that i had before. Flipping the tile over could be an option too.
I only had one tile chip when cutting and that seemed to be a flaw in the tile as the tile split a while later.

I have mine a while now and swear by it, Yes it is expensive but you can sell your gaff because a family of 4 can live in the box it comes in:smilewinkgrin:

Only seemed to happen once the supplied blade was past it, after that was changed no problems. Great saw, not very impressed with the supplied porcelain blade, there are better blades out there.

Mine sprays water everywhere no matter how much I play with the flaps from behind

Could do with a better UK ruler rather than the US one, other than that it's crackin'

Agree with the ruler but everyone on site remarked how little spray there was.... even on the tray, and yes i was using plenty of water.

i have had one for 3 years...its so battered it should be full of cod!

and is still the best portable saw on the market!!
