My current job

Just finished 3 bathrooms, smallest 20 m2, largest 28 m2, all walls were plastered to a bad standard! This is the Johnson tiles on another post I did during the week.

Any way. I'm starting the kitchen, dining, laundry & toilet floor monday. When I quoted the client stated the floor tiles were ceramic and I did look at them, but at the time was not sure whether they were not porcelian. Now the shop has confirmed they are porcelian.

I went in at 20 m2 for the ceramics & 25 m2 for the porcelian. Now, do I state to the client that they are infact porcelian and get the extra 5 notes per m2, or do I swollow it and just get on with the job?

how big is the floor area?

If the difference is going to be a couple of hundred quid, i would swallow it seeing as the other work you have had from the place, although you may already feel out of pocket because of the problems with the walls, anything more than a couple hundred I would sit down with the customer and explain and either charge them more per sqm or meet in the middle

I've worked it out at around 150 notes. He's had friends around who all live in the same area; where John Terry , Cheryl Cole & hubby and co live, lots of big financial brokers etc from London- so I feel I shouldn't rock the boat too much.

I don't charge extra for porcelain tiles unless they are a lot more work than normal.

They cut on a dry cutter and not really any extra time installing... not as if they are stone is it..:smilewinkgrin:

I would just suck it up, hey who knows what leads you may get from this job?

I charge an extra $5 for porcelain or an extra $10 for rectified esp if they are large format.

i charge the same for porcelain and ceramic,usually the same speed for both.

Same as other posts - I'd charge the same for porcs unless I could foresee any specific problems.... Could explain situation to the cm and offer to meet half way or add a bit to your final material cost - but a better way might be to explain the situation to the cm, agree to do it for the same price and ask if you can leave some business cards with them for recommendations. You only need to pick up one decent job and you've covered your 150 quid.

Porcelain is more expensive if you got to drill or make holes fo sockets, on floor it is no diffrence for you (only if you use wet machine you need better blade). If client bought standard adhesive for ceramic, you need to change to. porcelain adhesive

as mentioned above for what its worth just mention that you normally charge extra for porc but on this occasion youll let it slip ( makes you the good guy) :8:
