That's quite bad.

But I don't really get why you ban him from buying at Topps, after all, he's buying your gear, and once banned, he'll only get it from any of the other 1000 tiling shops to continue the bodging.

ps

Where did you get these photos from Gaz.
This so called trader, was registered at Preson Topps a few years ago,as long as I work for Topps I will defend my store and do everything in my power to advertise to everyone the fact that this man must be stopped from doing such work. The devastation he has left in his wake is outrageous and people like him eventually will make it harder and harder for lads like you,who are genuine from breaking through into this proffesion.I spent the best part of 22 yrs tiling to the highest of standards, leaving hundreds of people satisfied with the quality, and based a very good career on my integrity and honesty to my paying consumer. Its plain to see this so called man has absolutely no integrity at all,and if I find any of my traders at all half as bad as he is, I will ban them too.At least I can sleep at night knowing I have done all I can as a retailer to protect my custom. The pictures were given to me by another Preston tiler(a personal friend) who was asked to do a report on the job,to enable a court case ensue.Graham Bamber the Rogue in question has subsequently moved house, the slippery baastard

Thats awful! I could tile better than that before i did my course!

Good to see retailers stopping these so called tradesmen from using there stores...there should be a sort of rogue watch around stores so if one store comes across a rogue then they can inform all other stores in that area of him/her and stop them trading as much as poss...

Problem is not everyone will be like Gaz and not serve a known rogue trader. Smaller tile shops who need the business will still supply this type of trader. Wrong as it is!

gaz..have you any idea what roy rogers charged the customer ?
quotes went in at about 3k for the lot,he quoted it at £1700,got the job then destroyed it.More fool the customer for not stopping him in his tracks ! I have subsequently seen him in my store and told him he is not welcome, after of course I found out where he is living and passing on the info.

Well done Gaz for taking a stand.

I know im new but that 'workmanship' and I use the word evry loosely is terribkle.

I went out last week to do a job in a bthroom where a tiler had put 6mm ply down and then laid the tiles on the floor with wall adhesive. When I asked if i could pull a tile up to look underneath the guy said 'yes just lift it with your finger' and hey presto it came up.

They were though happy with the wall job - until that is I removed the tiolet pan to tile underneath and the tile behind came away showing that the adhesive had only been dotted in five places on the back of the tile. And the ease with which it came off makes me think said person has either not primed the plastered walls or used PVA.

Im waiting for the call to re-do the wall.

They were well pleased with my floor job too.

Keep up the good work Gaz

Rogue traders beware
