That is about the worst I have seen, even from a DIYers perspective, let alone a professional tradesman. Nice to see you taking a stand Gaz, you da MAN!

Good to see retailers stopping these so called tradesmen from using there stores...there should be a sort of rogue watch around stores so if one store comes across a rogue then they can inform all other stores in that area of him/her and stop them trading as much as poss...
Unfortunate as it may well be DH,most counter jockeys, in it for cash salesboys, know fork all about tiling, they would't know if it was crap or not,nor would they give a ****,only interested in £££ at the end of the month.

very.very true there gazza mate....i dont suppose we'll ever stop them.....probaly more bad tradesmen than good ones....

My young apprentice would destroy the guy if he ever met him, check him out in the 'new apprentice'thread Gaz he'll cheer you up.
I for one would wish all retailers had your integrity mate its to be applauded!

In America we would call that tile setter a "Hack".

Brutal job, and my helper....who has worked for me for 2 months...would honestly do a better job.

gaz..have you any idea what roy rogers charged the customer ?
quotes went in at about 3k for the lot,he quoted it at £1700,got the job then destroyed it.More fool the customer for not stopping him in his tracks ! I have subsequently seen him in my store and told him he is not welcome, after of course I found out where he is living and passing on the info.

Well done Gaz for taking a stand.

I know im new but that 'workmanship' and I use the word evry loosely is terribkle.

I went out last week to do a job in a bthroom where a tiler had put 6mm ply down and then laid the tiles on the floor with wall adhesive. When I asked if i could pull a tile up to look underneath the guy said 'yes just lift it with your finger' and hey presto it came up.

They were though happy with the wall job - until that is I removed the tiolet pan to tile underneath and the tile behind came away showing that the adhesive had only been dotted in five places on the back of the tile. And the ease with which it came off makes me think said person has either not primed the plastered walls or used PVA.

Im waiting for the call to re-do the wall.

They were well pleased with my floor job too.

Keep up the good work Gaz

Rogue traders beware
