Fitted a carpet for my step-son today. Nothing strange in that, I've fitted a few carpets but they've generally been cheaper ones that have just gone down on either solid or timber floors.

Today was different. I hired a carpet stretcher for £6 and what a difference it made. Looks like it was fitted professionally, well pleased and how much easier does it make the job when you have the right tools.

Wouldn't want to do it full time though, can see why so many carpet fitters end up with shot knees.

From my understanding carpet laying is the worst for knees, my mate used be a carpet layer and after 15 years had to pack it in...his knees were mullered.
