I couldn't agree more. Our daughter who is 10 months old has had health issues from day 1, it did take alot of visits to paediatric specialists to get to the bottom of the problems but it turns out that she is multi-allergenic. She is allergic to cows milk, protein, gluten, eggs and possibly a few others. We have been in and out of hospital with her because of these problems every month, on a couple of occasions A&E has been necessary. To cut a long story short, our little girl has problems that are no fault of ours or hers but every time we have gone to see doctors or turned up at hospitals we have always been cared for and treated as if we were the only people there at that time. We hear far too many complaints about our NHS system but for me I am eternally grateful for all that the doctors and nurses have done for my little girl and all the other people they have helped. Enduro (sorry I don't know your name) I'm so happy your wife is better and I also hope that many others will join us in appreciating the wonderful NHS we have and be grateful for the nurses and doctors that they give to us.

Glad to hear that's turned out well. As for the NHS one of our lads (17) went through it a year ago when he had an infection and his immune system packed in and we were very close to losing him. Couldn't expect much better care and attention while he was in hospital for five weeks and all the aftercare too. If we'd been in the US regular medical insurance would only have covered so much and we would have had to raise a lot of money.

I do wish many people would have more respect and appreciation for the NHS and not abuse it as it is 'free' and then the limited budget might go so much further.

Brilliant news Andrew, a great start to the weekend!! :hurray:

And yes, the NHS do the best they can, a big  all round. I really only know about the American, the German and the Egyptian system, and it boils down to the fact that serious illness is a horrible, horrible thing, and as it takes our control over our future away the natural reaction is to blame the medical care as there is no-one else to focus on, but out of the countires mentioned above this is the only one where this care is free, don't knock it.

The NHS as an organisation, company etc is like most other large companies, full of lots of people at the top messing with things that dont need messing with. Probably to keep their jobs and make it look like they are doing something. The NHS nurses, doctors and staff work the best they can and do a damn fine job given all the BS they have to contend with. My Ex wife was and still is a community nurse....was called a district nurse ! ,why a name change and how much does that cost ? Its the same job...anyway over the years we were married I have seen and heard it all but although we are now Ex married I would always say that my admiration for her and all these kind of staff are second to none.
