had a call today, wanted a price over the phone for 40 mts wall and floor. That'll be the day. Turns out he has already ripped all the tiles up, (bet his shop looks good now) bought all the materials inc addy and grout and wants it starting as soon as poss. Another customer whose favourite word will be , 'Discount'!! Sounds like trouble for some one

Already told him I will look at it if he can't find anybody but I will refuse to work with sub standard addy etc. bet they'll be a massive amount of prepwork to do as well

I wouldn't write the guy off until you meet him and get further information. Things aren't always as they seem (tho they usually are) and remember what the most used currency in a fast food shop is.

Priced up a Pizza shop in North Shields before XMAS 2009 - floors only.
Spent 4 hours with estimate/samples of non slip tiles/telephone etc - its still empty today!
A free estimate only works one way.

You can't tar them all with the same brush.. i have done 3 now for same family and they re spot on to work for..

Yes they try and get you sooner.. but be honest and they are normally ok.. never under price to get it or they will have your pricing sorted before each job.. always go higher..
