is it worth taking a hammer to your work so they have to shell out for tiles again as well as someone to fix. [/quote
Tom, the owner could sue the person for damage's in civil court and the police could prosecute for causing criminal damage. If the cost of the damage exceeds £2000 the magistrate can insist that the case is heard in the crown court, penalty for criminal damage is 10 years imprisoment. If less than £2000 in the magistrates court 3 months and £1000 fine and also ordered to pay compensation to the owner. It may have changed over the years and Maybe not.

As long as you have other work to do I don't blame you for walking. The question is what do you do if the customer is unwilling to give you what you quoted on completion, is it worth taking a hammer to your work so they have to shell out for tiles again as well as someone to fix. Be interested to know what people have done if they have been refused payment.
Maybe Dan should set up an anominous forum!
Mark that is just the point of the posts. Somebody on the forum must have been faced with that situation where the client refuses to pay what has been agreed to. So what did they do in that situation.
Fair point Whitebeam so maybe you should gentley prise of your tiles and leave in the corner with some wet adi for some other willing fixer to replace. That way all you are surely doing is undoing the work you have not been paid for. I know it would be time consuming but the satisfaction would far outweigh the feeling of being made a mug off.
I'd be willing to put money on the fact that John Wayneski, has a better grasp of punctuation than your good self though.
