Flood. Customer said he wants a price to do the job to give the insurance company. He said they just need a price to do the work and dont worry about keeping the price low. That's all I'm going from.

If I price the job at what I want to earn from it and get it then all's well but if I price it for what I think the insurance company will pay and I end up out of pocket then not good.

I just wasn't sure if people charge the price they pay for mats or trade price.

I think you will find out that insurance companies know the going rate for tilers and tiles. If you land the job then fair play to you but as already said Insurance companies almost always want 3 quotes.

This fella seams to think they wont. He told me he only needs one price.

I understand they know going rates but I've not over charged on mats at all. The prices are what they would cost Joe public.

sometimes you find with these quotes is that you do all the running around etc that you are doing now and the insurance company send someone to do it or you lose out...if it was me i wouldnt bother tbh with you...too many issues in insurance work imo.:smilewinkgrin:unless you have a contract for there work.My m8 is a plasterer and does all insurance work but works for them.

Ok here's the deal.

Do you know the customer? If so, has he asked for you to get other quotes from mates for the same work?

If not then he may be playing you.
He may have already got somebody in mind and he is getting high quotes so his mate can do the job, 3 quotes his mates is the lowest and you've wasted all this time along with some other poor sucker

Good point, I never thought about that. Yes I know the fella but not well. He just asked me to quote it.

I'll put the quote that I'll earn off of o.k and If I get it then so be it if not then its only cost me 20mins knocking up the quote and asking you lot which i enjoy any way.

Not long done a similar quote for an insurance job, got the impression that I wouldn't hear from them again, I stated in the quote that all materials are payable in advance, the rest (labour) on completion..mainly cos he kept tellin me.."don't worry, just throw the quote in, the jobs yours.."
and no..I haven't heard from him:lol:
