Just one thing .....as a property developer .....how's he going to pay? Having worked for a developer in the past they tend to 'Tax you at source' like the old CIS system. Nowadays you don't need a card just a Unique Tax Code number that you apply for.
Also it's nice to 'have a carrot dangled at you but can you be guarentted of the future work?
I would look at pricing the first job correctly with the option of offering a discount on the remaining apartments. Developers love a discount. Has he given you a budget to work to? If not ask.
Good luck

I know this is a hard question as you have not done a propper tiling job yet, but how long are you thinking each apartment will take you to complete ?

about 4 to 5 days

ive registered as self employed and my unique tax code wont be available for another 3 or 4 weeks, so ill have to be charged emergency tax and claim the difference back if i start the job before the tax can be set up properly, and their budget for each appartment is £900 per apartment, i calculate with my labour and materials and average price for the tile range their after comes in at £1,041, i know theres no guaruntee for the work but to be honest id still do the job for £100 as im after the experience to build up my confidence more

No such thing as "emergency tax" in the CIS scheme, only 2 rates, registered rate of 20% or unregistered at 30%. Once it is deducted there is no "claiming it back", you have to wait until you have submitted your year end tax return.

You will probably find that by the time you have completed the work and issued your first invoice your UTR will be with you.

Also, as a first job, I bet it takes you more than 5 days!

Best of luck, I hope you get it.

ah well 30% is what i meant then:thumbsup:
top be honest i wont be able to start the job for a couple of weeks anyway so hopefully my UTR will be with me and ready to use.

it might take me more than 5 days, ah well, time will tell

Whatever time it takes you Spoon, the experiance of it is what counts for now, not the money, and you'll most probably find as you go through from apartment to apartment you'll end up knocking a couple of days off each apartment by the time you get to the 6th or 7th one anyway.

How come you are supplying tiles and materials though, as developers generally buy these in and get their own discounts and they only need to source labour for the fitting ?

Also, how did you come across this job ? , you know the developers or something ?

hi I would be charging £30 m2 for porce take it or leave it yes there is a chance off 24 more jobs or is they , dont sell ya self cheep , i charge £130 per day if it locial if not then they coff up for the petrol

only the floor tiles are porcelain, wall tiles are ceramics, tho i was under the impression they were all porcelain.

an old mate of mine works for the company as a quantity surveyor, he basically asked me to come and measure up and give a quote, his boss doesnt know he knows me and its all kept proffesional, they thought about buying in their own materials but the guy in charge doesnt seem to want the hassle of having to go out looking for tiles and deciding which to have, so hes after a tiler who can do all the work for him i guess!

well anyway, i went and spoke to them and hes impressed with my efforts, and pretty much gave me the job straight away for this particular apparment that needs doing, so all being well ill get the rest of them too  just provided them with my level 2 aset certificate which i obtained from north east tile training and ill also be providing them with a reference
