quick question.........

I've got shorter props than that, bought them from ScrewFix.
I also do the same as Neale, screw a small piece of timber into the top ingo at the joins & wait till set then fix ingo (under side) of window with my smaller props.
You will find that if the tile isn't too big then suction will hold the tile in place, the prop is just there as a precaution..

I butter the back of tile. Never had a problem. Even with porcelain. Ohhhh no done it now, next one will drop.

I always support the tiles around the window reveal, never support the tiles on the widow header, if you use good quality adhesive you don't need to.

Ash, the outside edge above a window is called the head in my neck of the woods, the under side is the soffit, the sides, (right and left) are reveals and the cill or sill is the bottom bit. depending on your location terms may vary.

A bit like staff, gaugeing stick, pinch rod. You say tomato, I say tomateto. Just diffferent terms for the same thing really.

round ourway windows are known as a pain in the backside, there time consuming, out of level, and for some reason the plasterer can never get them flat with the walls to the sides, above and below...:incazzato:
