Nearly two weeks - the reason for this being that I lost the first day when the plaster on the first wall was blown so I had to remove the mornings work and clean off all adhesive etc.

After reading my post it notes each morning AND listening to his o/h for over an hour before she went to work, I was getting further and further behind (by which stage I was losing the will to live knowing I would be on the job another day!)

So the job was for 17m2 walls and 3.5m2 floor ? You were doing it for £20m2 = £410 less the £300 he has paid leaving £110 to pay? Plus the adhesive and grout you supplied ?
I reckon you wont get another penny from the guy, he knows its not worth going to court for.

When i was younger (many years ago) i tiled a kitchen, the client suplied everything. When finished he told me he wasnt happy with the colour of the grout....FFS he supplied it...He told me i should have advised the colour wasnt right (tiles were Ivory and grout Ivory). Like i say it was years ago and the total price was £40, he gave me cheque for £20. I couldnt do anything about it, so i put it down to lifes experiences. (I had the last laugh though but cant say how)

You have lost just over £100, its not the end of the world. It shouldnt happen but ,,,IT DOES.
Sorry you have found one of lifes professional rip off customers.

No I know I wont get the balance and Im also aware there is no point in pursuing the balance - the point of starting the thread was merely to warn people of the potential scams that 'diy ers' potentially try on here and of course the personal satisfaction of him reading the posts which prove, on the whole, that my work is acceptable!

Yes Murf - I'd seen that and believe me - he wasnt joking - he MEANT every word of his reply - trying to be one of 'board' by making out he found it funnt but believe me thats just what he was like ! :mad2:

Mate from a time point of view (2 weeks on 20.5m2 is a long time) i may well think you are far too slow but from a quality point of view you have nothing to worry about at all. Great job

Wont argue about my speed but believe me - every day had its setbacks - one half day was lost having to go out and replace an angle grinder - another re-doing the blown wall - not making excuses for anything but you wont believe how frustrating the entire job was - most days felt like I was going backwards and Im sure we've all got to the point where the job drags you down - especially knowing nothing was ever going to be 'good enough'

Go and tile the t**ts car with rapid set.I'm not being funny but why are people leaving peoples houses without the full amount. There is no chance on this Earth that i would EVER except the full amount for any job I did.You have to always stick up for yourself.

I heard on the radio yesterday about a builder who wasn't paid for an extension he built so he wen't and took the whole think down, thats exactly what I'd have done.Top Bloke!

Your work is spot on by the way mate,I can see you centered the window and thats how you got the slivers, sometimes it can't be helped.
