Remove plinths for tiling a floor?

does that come out of your pocket or is it added to the final bill? or do you quote it before hand mate? cheers.

some tilers Should be ashamed of themselves. So you don’t fit backer board or SLC or patch walls or cut architrave or fit UFH or install tanking. When you have a floor that needs strengthening how do you cope if you cant even cut a plinth. I have heard some rubbish spouted in my time but this is just pathetic.

So when's a tiler not a tiler..when he's cutting plinths and doors and patch plastering..I totally agree with everything you say

no disrespect meant at all when I say this brian but how many jobs have you potentially lost by doing this? if you need to get another tradesman in is that not going to put the customer off most of the time? cheers

i realy couldnt give you a honest answer to that ,all i can say is that if i asked a decorator to come and give me a price to paper my living room ,i wouldnt expect a butcher to turn up,no disrespect either, just saying like ,i like to think i am a tradesman,a tiling specialist is what i am, it how i have made a living for 43 years ,simples,

skip them, then tell them to get a joiner in to hang a new one

It's just the same Tea Bag, there should be enough rail to trim the bottom of the door down by 5, 10, 20mm. If there isn't because it's been hung in correctly and you can't repostion the rail then by all means pass it up and tell them it's not something you can do. But that is on the rare ocassion, so no need to turn down the other 99 times it isn't an issue.

I wouldn't expect tilers to start re-hanging doors, ffitting kicthens, plastering whole rooms but the very basic jobs shouldn't be any issue at all.

All you're doing is making life harder for your customers by telling them to get all these extra trades in to do tiny jobs which they will charge a premium for as it takes longer to drive to the job than it actually takes to do it.

so..tilers are mulitrades...I knew it..see Dave ? Lol.

I really don't get this..? just because your a tiler dose that mean you must be perfect in every job in the building trade..? like Bri I've never lost a job cause I don't plain a door, infact most customers don't expect me to as that's a carpenters job.....or one of you multi bodgers jobs...:sofahide:..

Plinths remove ?

do you mean you write it up on the quote under 'accessory fitting'? I don't think I got that one sorry mate

Sorry mate, as my quotes/invoices are fully itemised, it has its own line. I just meant its at the end of every quote next to accessory fitting

as time served joiner I don't see problem in cutting kickers or trimming wooden doors. problem is plastic entry door.....
it is not rocket science to trim kickers with fine saw or using electric planer for door
