S1 vs S2 adesive on garage floor+ or - antifracture mat

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hi guys.how many use S1 for garage floor and how many use S2?
Also antifracture mat what is the best one for garage floor to use?
Thanks

Bit of a vague question. What is the quality of the screed like? How long has it been down? What tiles are being fitted? What construction is the building? What is the intended purpose of the garage?

I can't ever recall using an S2 on a garage floor in the past. S1 for me for nearly everything nowadays

The trouble with an s2 adhesive if you have to build it up at all to level the floor because of the movement capabilities in the adhesive you actually build in a problem of potential movement particularly with heavy loads moving across the floor

I'd go with a thin mat like BAL Rapidmat or Tilemaster's and a plain old S1.
No need for an S2 surely?
Also, make sure you've got the expansions in place.
I'm guessing as you want a mat in there, there aren't any in the screed?

Yes thanks guys.that was in my mind as well to do.well my instinct told me the same thing.but it does worth to hear diferent opinions.

Interestly, ultra S2 is said to act as an anti fracture itsself.
That would make using it probably cheaper than putting a matt down.
However, this is not a common tried and tested method.
