Hi janzbro,

I've seen far too many problems that come as a result of someone (usually the plumber or the tin knocker) hacking a joist up. I would not for any reason cut the joist the way you need to do to get this shower tray to work. Maybe you can sell the tray that you have and recover some of your expense, and then buy the new one that has the correct dimensions for the drain ?

Im going to pack it with WBP ply and then tank with tanking taping and Mapei WPS

and what size (same as joist )

its an 8" joist btw and I'll need to remove 5"

ok point taken, Im moving tray forward as stated but how do you run basin wastes etc must these all above floor level and boxed in? , Ive seen loads with no visible pipework so it must be under the floor and damn lucky if no joists in the way :smilewinkgrin:

I would cut the joist if I were you n noggin the cuts to the joists either side (or double up the noggins if you'd feel safer). Use good fixings n you'll be home for supper :8:

Bruv, did you not read this thread properly, he wants to cut 5" out of an 8" joist, big no no.
