T.T.A tiling accessor

that might be a good idea.
am i definitly correct in saying that the things they have done have been done incorrectly.surely if it goes to court i cant lose if this is the case

Craig,

Gather as much evidence together as you can:

~ Keep the adhesive & grout tubs that were used
~ Keep hold of the adhesive & grout specs
~ See if your local Topps Tiles will provide a written statement confirming what advice they gave to you
~ Ask the adhesive company to come and inspect the tiles and adhesive and get a full report from them
~ Ask an independent tiler in your area to inspect the work as well

And remember to point out to Trading Standards that you will be sueing them for any injuries caused by the adhesive failing.

GRR :driving:

done all them things appart from asking adhesive company to come inspect. The bathroom company want adhesive company, them and tiler present whilst inspection takes place.I dont want them back in my house for obvious reasons.ide have the inspection done but without fitters and tiler present.
havnt told trading standards about the claiming part

I'd speak to the adhesive company yourself first, and ask them whether they want the bathroom fitters and tiler present when carrying out an inspection...

Surely if the adhesive manufacturer is to give an impartial view of how well the adhesive is struck, having the fitting company and tiler hanging around might not be appropriate. Otherwise, the fitters might persuade the adhesive company that there's nothing wrong.

Keep chipping away at them Craig, and stand your ground. Safety first :hurray:

i will do.thanks for your advice.i am going to stand my ground as they have not carried out the work satisfactory to british standards
cheers anyway:thumbsup:

I am glad to see you standing your ground. I cant believe trading standards can say such a thing. What happened to "selling items unfit for the purpose"
Maybe a phone call to the program of Cowboy Builders ?

Never mind British standards, they havent followed the adhesive manufacturers guidelines :mad2:

it says on the 'weber fix plus , date sheet not suitable for porcelain.
also it says on tub suitable for tiles up to 300 * 300mm.mine are 600 *300mm.

hi mate just one thing did you or the bathroom company produce a detailed list of work and materials. if they have, check what materials they have priced you for ie powdered adhesive with porcelbond as this is more expensive than the tubbed adhesive they have used. if they have billed you for this and then used a cheaper and or inferior substitute they have broken their part of the contract you should be able to take up with trading standards aswell, may have to move back to the boro.
good luck and let us know how you get on.
chris

hi there.we had an agreement that they were going to use the powder based as stated earlier.the tiler brought the wrong adhesive as ive found out.trying to save himself time and money.
