Took my 'to be' wife to a robert cray gig 25 yrs ago on one of our first dates, god was she bored, she must love me!!

Tried to see the Blues band about 30 yrs ago but couldn't get in. Ended up in the bar sat next to Alexis Korner, refered to as the founder of British Blues! Worth not getting in to meet him

This is the guy I use to work for, I'd say he is fairly close to the founder of Jazz and R&B in the UK, When I worked at the record company (TKO/Ember Records) they had a catalogue of over 35,000 jazz and blues recordings... the roster looked like this

Jeffrey Kruger MBE

"Virtually every major name in the Jazz, R & B and Rock fields was to appear at the Flamingo - from Billie Holiday to Dizzy Gillespie and Erroll Garner to John Lee Hooker, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and Jimi Hendrix. Van Morrison's Them; Moody Blues; Deep Purple; Stevie Wonder and Status Quo all appeared at the club and it was the home base for Georgie Fame; Geno Washington; Zoot Money Big Roll Band featuring Andy Summers later of Police fame; and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers featuring Eric Clapton + Led Zeppelin; the Rolling Stones; the Who etc"

"Among the artists I have presented in concert through the years have been such wonderful and varied talent as The Jackson Bros; Gladys Knight and the Pips; Barry White; Marvin Gaye; Glen Campbell; Anne Murray; Tammy Wynette; Johnny Cash; Kris Kristofferson; Rudolph Nureyev; The Stars of the Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies performing 'Swan Lake'; Andy Williams; Dionne Warwick; George Burns; Jack Benny; Vic Damone; Al Martino; Placido Domingo; Jerry Lee Lewis; Bill Haley and his Comets and countless others. And this was called work!!!!!"

"This pioneering venture provided him with the opportunity to release music by some of the biggest names in R&B in the early 1960's, such as James Brown, John Lee Hooker, Jack Dupree, B.B. King, the Platters and Billy Ward's Dominoes, featuring Clyde McPhatter and Jackie Wilson"

You should have seen the pictures in his office! The company was one of my mothers clients that's how I ended up working there, his son Howard is a good friend of hers. Howard is going out with a very famous 'Rear of the year'

Jeffery opened the first dedicated Jazz club in London called 'the Flamingo', in later years the door was run buy some rather well known twins.

On Jefferey's honeymoon he met Ol Blue Eyes and managed to sign some rights for the UK - On the back of a napkin!!!!

Sadly they sold the catalogue last year
