Tile weight query

but it still doesnt state difference on mechanical fixings dot and dab !!

also the marmox board doesnt say how it has to be fixed to get the stated strength

Hi

Well i asked the tile suppliers about the weight per sq mt and they said 30ish, although i think that was an educated guess as they didn't go off to check.
So 10kg per sq mt over the recommended.

So other than choosing different tiles, what would my options be with these tiles.

Many thanks
Andy

I would read this first.....

so at 30ish they're gonna be pushing it for unskimmed plasterboard too, taking into account adhesive weight. It's looking like a backer type board will be your best option

Hi

Sorry to be still going on about this.

i've found some other tiles i like and managed to get a sample, so i weighed it when i got home.

It's another porcelain 60x30 and weighs in at 3.5kg, so if my maths is correct that's 5.5 tiles per sq mt so comes in at 19ish kg per sq mt plus the adhesive/grout, i know it should be ok for the unskimmed plasterboard wall, but would it be over doing it for the plastered walls.considering the recommended is 20kg with the adhesive/grout

Also what's the general opinion on large format tiles in a small room, would they look odd seeing as there would only be a few in whole.

Thanks
Andy

It will exceed the safe recommended wieght limit for plaster or skimmed walls. As for large fromat in small rooms, it would be a personal thing.

personally,i think you should just wait for Daryl to get home and he WILL sort it out for you as its his job and he is a pro, this will save you twoing and frowing and conflicted reports on weight ratios etc from different sources..the he said she said but if you did this scenario.I know if it was me i would rather my customer came to me for advice.JUST MY OPINION.
