Tilers: Why Not Say Good Morning Before Work?

Feeling skint this morning. I suggested to the wife on satuday morning about giving the lounge a lick of paint. Was expecting to buy a few tubs of paint and a new set of brushes. While we were out she escallated it to paint, a new suite, new tv, new stand, plan to rip out the fire place, new carpet, and a splitface slate feature wall behind said tv and stand.

Shoulda just kept my mouth shut!

No, the fire is only electric (plugs into the mains) and we never use it, and the surround is just screwed to the wall (rather crudely by previous owner). Providing I can clean it up and its not stuck to the wall too well, it'll leave me a nice slab of marble to do something with too 🙂

Any ideas anyone? (and please don't say "make a vase")

1 hour to remove 25m of slate tiles this morning and 6 hours to remove the dodgy adhesive
