I know that its expensive,but would anyone consider overlaying the chipboard with 'Weddiboard' or similar...insulation and a cementious suface to key to, all in one.

Probably not necessary if you have used 22mm ply with 3in of insulation underneath, as long as you use an appropriate adhesive like Ardex 7001 or BAL equivalent.
