topps tile gear

just starting my mums new kitchen and went out and got a nice deal on on tile addy and grout well i thort it was lol.

two bags of wide joint addy gray 25kg
one bag of white wall addy 25kg
2 bags of bal gray grout small bags ??????
one bag of white wall grout small bag ????????
bag of 4mm spacers they forgot too give me my 3mm ones not happy.
ts60 plus
he gave me a rubi tiling sponge and a bal mixing bucket as thay lost the 6mm cutting head of the rubi!!!!!!!!
= £336.00p there abouts.

the ts60 plus was bang on £200 with vat then i see the bridge saw for £175 and started crying i want one now ill get one soon i really want one can you tell!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is the topps own gear any good???
im planng on tiling over the tiles that are down on the floor now.
as for the walls ill be tiling over fresh plaster after its dyed lol

when i went back in there on saterday the guy is now saying i need to prime the floor first (old tiles) (SBR)
do i need a primer or will it still work over the tiles that are down????

REALLY NEED YOUR HELP

Topps tiles?? i would hope all my potential clients would go & price at topps then i would be quids in. :lol::lol:

i just didnt want all the ball braking back acking of hacking up the tiles that are there now if there sound and clean.
i used topps tiles in the past foe tiling tools ect just never there tile addy.

any one here use there gear
theres a tiler round here maidstone that only uses topps tile gear he has loads of tiling work on he bought about 7 bags of there floor addy while i was there said its just like bal and as good too

you have paid well over the odds for your materials imo if your cutter was 200 pounds

anyways what type of tiles are going down and what type are already down?

tile on tile isnt my advice either you would get a better job lifting them

there B&Q slate affect floor tile £12 per m2
the tiles down now are terracotta porcelain tiles.
will i need to prime it (SBR) or just tile over it if needs be ill get them hacked off

I presume you mean Toppfix adhesive? Its ok but I wouldnt use it myself, its full of sand and probably some leftovers from last nights dinner to cheapen it up.
Its always best to lift the existing tiles but as you dont want to, I would apply a cement/SBR slurry coat to the existing tiles prior to tiling over.

Tile on tile is fine as long as the existing tiles are well fixed?clean the tiles with sugar soap then rinse with clean water!apply a slurry coat to the exhisting tiles.and there's nothing wrong with Toppfix. used it loads of times with confidence.can u not open a trade account to get the adhesive at the wright price??

im thinking of opening a trade account with them and ctd and tile giant i dont tend to do a lot of tiling nowdays but it is picking up agen for me
mums job theres 13m2 floor tiling 8 m2 wall tiling (kitchen)
9m2 floor tiling 5m2 wall tiling (bathroom)
pluss i just got a load of private work too

its not a lot of m2 i know but will get me back in the swing of it agen

IMHO it's always better to use one store,if u use them often enough they will look after you on price!my local Topps tiles will beat anybody on price!
