topps tiles shame on you

TT Tiling

hey all, just finished off a slate floor today and the customer needed to get 3 bags of add for me to finish ,to save them driving 40 miles to the shop where they brought everything from , i said well you could all ways try topps lol ,so off they went ,on the return they said they popped in to top but they wanted £63 a bag lol so they went for a drive instead lol
they payed £68 for the 3 bags instead of £189 from topps it may of cost them £20 tops for driving to the shop ,but still saved then selfs over £100 ,shame on you topps
the funny thing is that they are developing 6 barns at a very top end , so after the little cost thing ,topps will not be getting any sales from this cpl
SHAME ON YOU TOPPS

The RRP prices they have are to laugh at. Heavy margin on their adhesives. If you ain't got a Topps account, they will ask silly money.

the money they must be loseing by trying to charge this ,surely no one just goes and buys it with out ringing around first and not everyone is going to open an account just to get discount

i shop at ToppsTiles most of the time and there prices cant be beat??my local store is great..
i offer my trade discount to my customers so they get it at the right price...... 😉

Topps vary too much. My dad (RIP) had a topps account but they couldnt or wouldnt get anywhere near a local retailer or CTD .
Seems to me your face either fits or not.

sign of the times i think Neil.. just got to play em a little mate! i think alot of it is down to the staff.my local
branch will beat any price..but a branch down the road is totally different!!! theyve got to beat any price by 5%
its in black and white!

Lots of things to take into account when dealing with any outlet, prices, products and local for me. Topps are 8 miles away with about 10 tile dealers nearer maybe more. CTD is even too far for me to make the travelling worth it over any savings.

I shop most of the time at Topps. Recently they've been matching CTD on Bal & Hardibacker. It's giving them a negative margin but they don't want to loose the sales!
My customers get my discount when they go in but it's the new customers that have already bought everything & then phone you!

I do use topps from time to time they called me the other day asking how business is a lot has to do with how their monthly figures are doing if they are down they through Deals around if they are strong then they are reluctant to give deals

well if you think about it with each tops shop making only £120 a day profit if they did not over charge they would be in adminastaion in the blink of an eye

Topps rrp prices are the same all over the country. This story has been exaggerated. Sorry guys!!! Max price on bal is £49.99. Still a rip but 8/10 customers ask for discount. They will get it and topps will offer a full package deal, tiles adhesive grout spacers sealers etc and adjust the price on adhesives to ensure a good margin of profit.

traders get a very good deal. Palace adhesives, from £8 a bag to £17 varying throughout the range, flexi, white etc.

businesses have to make money to survive, topps have massive overheads so I can understand why some of their goods are so expensive ,its is more of a retail diy outfit than a trade friendly place in my opinion
